I am writing with the sad news of Martin Harrison’s death on the weekend. Since the news is now up on Facebook I hope that this post will not come as a shock to anyone close to him. Martin was a member of our editorial board and had planned to guest edit the poetry for the next issue of Plumwood Mountain. In my few meetings with Martin and our communications over poetry and the journal, I was struck by his insight, generosity and kindness. I always came away a little changed, through something learnt about poetry and poetics, or with a different perspective on my own life and work. Martin will be much missed by many. In respect for Martin and those mourning and remembering him, the call for submissions for the next issue will be delayed until later in September or early October. I will remember Martin with gratitude. My sympathies and those of Plumwood Inc and the editorial board go out to Martin’s family and friends, his students and colleagues, and all he touched as poet, mentor and friend. Vale Martin Harrison.
